Preparation for installation of 30,000 litre water tank on rural block
For any kind of construction work, site preparation is key. A water tank – vital in so many areas of our region – needs an appropriate foundation to ensure years of trouble-free use. Two things are critical – firstly, that the tank is placed on a level base or pad that will not erode or subside and secondly, that the pad is free of any debris that could pierce the tank.
- For this particular project, we installed one of the most popular choices, a polyethylene tank. These are lightweight, UV resistant, extremely durable and relatively easy to install.
- The site required some excavation of the bank and battering off to blend into the existing landscape and create a large and flat area for the tank.
- After excavation the pad was levelled to a suitable height to allow for sufficient crusher dust to be laid and compacted ready for the tank delivery. Compacted gravel and sand are other options.
- The fence was relocated to keep it stock proof.
